25. Too Cool & Rikishi Vs. Right To Censor - 2000

I was surprised at how many six-man tag matches there had been at SummerSlam over the years. This one pitted the team of Rikishi and his dancing buddies, Scotty 2 Hotty and Grandmaster Sexay against the Right to Censor team of Steven Richards, The Goofather and Bull Buchanan.

Much like the previous entry, there isn’t really anything offensive here. Scotty 2 Hotty was much better in-ring than I remember, and I completely love the Steven Richards straighter than straight censorship gimmick, but that’s really it. If anything it is a good picture of the early 2000’s in WWE, where the roster was huge, the gimmicks were interesting but there was too much to get in if anything. The crowd loves Rikishi’s arse and hated Richards, so this served its purpose. Nothing more, nothing less.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
