The summer of 1999 was complete and utter bonkers for the WWF.

Vince McMahon was revealed as the higher power, Stephanie was kidnapped by the Undertaker, and Mr. Ass won King of the Ring. Amidst all this chaos, Steve Austin battled Vince and Shane in a handicap ladder match for control of the World Wrestling Federation.

One of the weirder ladder matches in company history, it’s hard to even classify it as a wrestling match. It’s an extended beatdown sequence in which Austin slaps around Vince and Shane with ladders. While that would make for an entertaining RAW segment, it’s sort of dubious as a PPV main event.

It’s an interesting historical curiosity, as its the source of the famous spot where an unknown person lifts the briefcase away from Austin, but as a match, there’s not much to watch.
