All 6 WWE Hell In A Cell PPV Main Events - Ranked From Worst To Best
3. Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan (2013)
Heading into SummerSlam 2013, it looked like Daniel Bryan's time had come. John Cena was on the way out to tend to surgery on his elbow and Bryan was emerging as the most over guy in the company. Then, Randy Orton cashed in his MITB briefcase which kicked off a sobering few months in which it would be realized that WWE wasn't as sold on Bryan as the fans were. This Hell in a Cell Main Event was the last match in their series. There was a lot to like about this match because Randy Orton and Daniel Bryan mesh well together. They used the ring steps and chairs well and Bryan showcased his usual babyface hot spots. Randy even performed a Superplex on Daniel onto a pile of chairs in the middle of the ring. It was the ending that soured this one. Special guest referee Shawn Michaels became involved after Triple H and Randy Orton verbally harassed him a few times. Hunter received a running knee strike from Daniel, which set up a Sweet Chin Music by Shawn against his former pupil. Daniel Bryan got revenge against Shawn the next night on Raw, putting him in the Yes Lock. It would've been amazing if the interference was for the purpose of seeting up a match between the two, but Michaels later recounted that "there were never any plans to have a match with Bryan." Bummer. The mishandling of Daniel Bryan's booking during this match and this time in general was a big missed opportunity for WWE. Luckily, they'd learn their lesson thanks to overwhelming fan support and reinsert him into the title scene by WrestleMania season.
