All 6 WWE Hell In A Cell PPV Main Events - Ranked From Worst To Best

2. John Cena vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. CM Punk (2011)

This was an interesting time for the WWE Championship. John Cena was the champ going into this match while CM Punk and Alberto Del Rio had won it in previous months. For context, CM Punk's memorable Pipebomb promo was several months prior as well. No one wrestler was booked as an exceptionally dominant or weak competitor in this Hell in a Cell match. The action was back and forth and they kept the attention of the audience well. There was also nice uses of weaponry, such as when Del Rio back suplexed Cena onto a chair that ever so slowly collapsed under his limp body. Ricardo Rodriguez was able to get the Cell door open which then prompted Cena to go after him and administer an AA to him on the outside. Del Rio capitalized on this and locked Cena out of the steel structure. This left Del Rio and Punk alone for a one-on-one sequence to finish out the match. Alberto used a steel pipe to his advantage, including to strike the ribs of Punk while he attempted his GTS. Del Rio pinned Punk to win the match and the WWE Championship. The fun continued after the match as The Miz and R-Truth entered the ring while the Cell was briefly raised for an attack on the three match competitors, the refs, and even a couple of camera guys. They were arrested as Triple H acted all mad at them - it was an exciting element to top off an already good match. Some might dispute this one being ranked higher than the Orton vs. Bryan bout from 2013, but it was a close call for me. Even though Cena was baited into leaving the Cell and was locked out for the final moments, the ending in this one lacked the overbooking of the 2013 main event. That was what ranked this one higher for this list.
