When the Universal Championship was created in 2016, few could have imagined one of the prominent superstars featured around the title would be Goldberg. After returning and defeating Brock Lesnar, the former WCW Heavyweight Champion would challenge Kevin Owens for the title at Fastlane. In typical Goldberg fashion, he would win the match and the championship in just 22 seconds, becoming only the third ever Universal Champion.

Goldberg's first reign with the red strap would only last a month, and he would not defend his championship before losing it to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33. Over two years after losing that prize, Da Man would return to WWE to challenge The Fiend for the title in Saudi Arabia. In a match that could have been a defining moment turned into a disaster for Wyatt, who would not only lose the title to 54-year-old Goldberg, but would do so in embarrassing fashion.

Following Goldberg's win, he would once again not defend the Universal Championship until losing it to Braun Strowman in a quickly put together match at WrestleMania 36.
