All 8 WWE Universal Champions Ranked Worst To Best
3. Kevin Owens
The Universal Championship did not have a great first few weeks in WWE. After it was unveiled, fans unilaterally disliked the design, taking over both the announcement of the title as well as the match to crown the first champion all in order to voice their displeasure. The cherry on top being that in the aforementioned match, Finn Bálor would injure himself and relinquish the title after just one day as champion. The Universal Title needed a new titleholder who could bring legitimacy to the strap after a less than ideal start.
Insert Kevin Owens, who after some help from Triple H would pin Seth Rollins to win the Universal Championship. The Prizefighter would hold the title for over six months, defending the title against the top of WWE in Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman. Not only was KO a solid Universal Champion, he was also one of the most entertaining parts of WWE television each week alongside partner Chris Jericho.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. After the renowned Festival of Friendship segment, Kevin Owens would drop the Universal Championship to Goldberg in just 22 seconds at Fastlane 2017.
