Following his first major hiatus, The Undertaker switched things up a little when he returned. Both his hair and beard were now pitch black (which highlighted his pale face even more) and everything grey on his previous attire was now purple.

It was a more modern look and one that suited the character immensely as WWE transitioned into its New Generation era, but personality wise, this one was virtually the exact same as the Western Mortician. Well, in 1994 and 1995 at least.

Occasionally, he was able to change up his offense with certain opponents, adding leapfrogs and crossbodies to his arsenal while just moving that little bit faster. But by the time 1996 rolled around, he began to relax some of the intricacies of the gimmick, dropping the uppercuts (and not-to-mention his attire's signature ripped sleeves) and replacing it with the beginnings of the brawling style he still utilises to this day.

He had some great, lengthy feuds during this period as well, some of which produced great matches. His WrestleMania bout with Diesel was a refreshing surprise while his battles with Mankind were nothing short of legendary.

This one was undoubtedly a major change at first, but it was a necessary one that ultimately proved beneficial for 'The Phenom'.
