As a result of a win in a Smackdown Live triple threat match, Apollo Crews earned the right to challenge The Miz for the Intercontinental Title. That bout will take place on August 21 at SummerSlam in Brooklyn, New York.

The Smackdown Live match pitted Crews against WrestleMania battle royal winner Baron Corbin and two-time United States Champion Kalisto. All three men tried to pick up victory, but Crews scored the win when he knocked Corbin out of the ring and rolled Kalisto up for a three count.

Curiously, the action wasn't over - Corbin attacked Kalisto, The Miz ran in and attacked Crews, and Corbin finally laid out The Miz. Could Baron Corbin and Kalisto be added to the match, making it an Intercontinental Title fatal four-way like at Extreme Rules?

The Miz won the Intercontinental Championship on the Raw after WrestleMania (the same show at which Crews made his main roster debut), ending Zack Ryder's 24-hour title reign with help from the returning Maryse. Since then, the former WWE Champion has been delivering his most acclaimed work in half a decade, defending the belt against the likes of Cesaro, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, and Darren Young.
