Assessing Future Of 10 WWE Stars Who Didn’t Make Royal Rumble 2017 Cut

8. The Brian Kendrick

When Brian Kendrick defeated TJ Perkins to become WWE Cruiserweight Champion at Hell In A Cell last October, the veteran was fully deserving of the title. Recast as a callous heel, who wanted to prey on T.J's loyalty to him, Kendrick excelled on the microphone and helped give the feud some spotlight.

Since dropping the gold to Rich Swann in late November, he hasn't been featured as much on Raw. With Neville's rise as the top heel in the division, it's difficult to envision Kendrick reclaiming the success he had during the Cruiserweight Title's early months.

If you had asked fans to fill out the Royal Rumble match late last year, Brian Kendrick would have been on the list. His promos were regularly a highlight on Monday nights, and with his experience, he would have been considered somebody WWE could count on to deliver the goods during one of their most stressful matches.

Kendrick remains on the fringes of main programming without that Rumble berth. There's always a place at the WWE Performance Center, should Kendrick choose to stop wrestling. After all, that's where he was working before his most recent run.
