Assessing The Futures Of 10 WWE Stars Who Didn't Make The Royal Rumble 2021 Cut

6. Drew Gulak

For a brief moment at the beginning of 2020, it looked as though Drew Gulak was going to get a fair run on WWE's main roster. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion was positioned as the technical genius he is, allied with Daniel Bryan and gaining credibility with every passing week. He didn't win a huge amount of matches but he was gaining new fans in losing efforts against Bryan, AJ Styles and King Corbin.

Then, a move to RAW and a spot in the hall of geeks, better known as the 24/7 Championship picture.

Gulak was nowhere to be seen in the Royal Rumble, no great shock but somewhat disheartening all the while. The Philadelphia pugilist has overcome all sorts of obstacles in his WWE career to date, making lemonade from lemons more often than not, but even the most optimistic of Gulak supporters will admit that the future doesn't look great for their man.

It makes it all the more baffling as to why Gulak re-signed with the company in the middle of 2020. One can only assume that a coaching position at the WWE Performance Center is his aim at this point and a few months of chasing R-Truth around the ThunderDome represents nothing more than easy money.
