Assessing The Futures Of 10 WWE Stars Who Didn't Make The Royal Rumble 2021 Cut

7. Angel Garza

Angel Garza

Every now and then, WWE seems to realise what it has on its hands with Angel Garza. The former WWE Cruiserweight Champion then receives a bit of on-screen attention that doesn't really go anywhere beyond 'Garza gives a woman a rose', before he disappears into the ether all over again. Every few weeks, this is repeated. There are a lot of examples of twitchy booking in WWE, but the treatment of Angel Garza may well be the current height of WWE needing to sh*t or get off the pot.

Wildly charismatic and a genuinely engaging in-ring performer, Angel Garza should be a staple of WWE television on a weekly basis. I'm not talking about vague romance and winking at backstage interviewers. Garza should be in high profile feuds, winning matches, challenging for titles and generally working his way up to the top of the ladder. The Eddie Guerrero comparisons haven't come about by accident.

Garza wasn't in the Rumble and it won't be surprising if he spends the rest of 2021 doing little outside of keeping florists in business and trying to convince viewers that he is every bit the lothario that he claims to be. Much like Latino Heat before him, Garza may need to move company before his talent can be fully realised.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
