Earlier this year, a Japanese titleholder took on an western pretender, and the two contested one of the finest matches of their generation. Then, just months later, they did it again and somehow bettered the maiden encounter. Though the Japanese champion remains in possession of the gold, the western pretender has to now believe that, with maybe one more chance, they can emerge victorious.

This was just one of the hooks for the third match of the spectacular Kazuchika Okada/Kenny Omega feud in New Japan Pro Wrestling, and further comparisons of Asuka and Ember Moon's tale with that legendary series don't end there. Moon was unable to hit her Eclipse the first time, in exactly the same way Omega had been unsuccessful dropping Okada with the One-Winged Angel. In match two, the move was finally unleashed, but still wasn't enough to dethrone the gutsy champ.

It was only in the third chapter of their remarkable story that 'The Cleaner' was able to put together a strategy to finally score a win over the superhuman 'Rainmaker'. Maybe, just maybe, the story can mirror the historic NJPW trifecta and Asuka can finally be toppled. There is of course, one key difference - Ember's eventual win actually scores her the champion's ultimate prize.
