As covered earlier, Brock Lesnar looks set to return from his storyline WWE suspension for the 10 December episode of SmackDown, with that show's venue (Los Angeles, California's Staples Center) confirming that the former Universal Champion "vows to buy a ringside seat" for the show.

Dave Meltzer has some additional details on the situation in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter. This show is reportedly being put together so that SmackDown's network, FOX, can get a major show in their home base, LA.

As one of WWE's biggest stars, Lesnar is described as "one of the key people [FOX] are interested in," hence why he is on the show.

Meltzer also notes that this will likely be the start of the road to Lesnar facing Roman Reigns at Royal Rumble 2022. They last wrestled at Crown Jewel 2021 on 21 October, with Roman retaining the Universal Championship due to interference from The Usos. Brock went nuts on the following night's episode of SmackDown, destroying various crew members being before handed his kayfabe suspension.

Crown Jewel was Lesnar's first match since March 2020, as Brock elected to sit pro wrestling out during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
