With regular rumblings throughout last year that WWE had offered a new contract to Rey Mysterio, the Master of the 619 has now revealed that he has indeed signed a new deal to remain with Vince McMahon’s sports entertainment juggernaut.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso, Mysterio revealed that he recently penned a new WWE contract, although he did not specify the length of this deal – only that “there is definitely going to be more time to see Rey Mysterio in WWE”.

When Mysterio returned to WWE in 2018, he reportedly signed an 18-month deal which expired midway through last year. As such, the three-time World Champion was actually working without a contract for parts of last year.

The expiration of that previous deal actually saw AEW make an offer to bring in Mysterio, but WWE utilising his son Dominik in such a prominent role on TV is believed to have cemented Rey’s decision to ultimately put pen to paper on a new WWE deal.

During his SI interview, Mysterio stated how he’s going to keep wrestling “until Father Time catches up” with him, and he also praised Dominik’s potential and discussed how he’s delighted to see his son doing so well with the opportunities that have come his way.
