Big Change Made To AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2024

Major change made to this year's Forbidden Door PPV.

While this year's Forbidden Door was previously set to take place from New York City's Arthur Ashe Stadium, reportedly at some point in June, there's now been a notable change to this crossover PPV.

Speaking on the debut edition of Fightful's Beyond the Bell, Andrew Zarian noted how Forbidden Door 2024 will now not be taking place from Arthur Ashe. Fightful has been told that the major reason for this is that New Japan Pro-Wrestling didn't want to split the high production costs of running such a venue, although NJPW denies that this is the case. While Zarian has heard of a possible new location for Forbidden Door, he stated that this isn't Madison Square Garden.

The two previous editions of Forbidden Door have taken place from Chicago's United Center (in 2022) and Toronto's Scotiabank Arena (in 2023), and it now remains to be seen where this year's edition of the show will emanate from. As alluded to, it had been reported by various outlets that, much like those previous two Forbidden Door events, the 2024 offering will take place in June, but AEW has yet to officially confirm that.

Where this year's Forbidden Door is concerned, it seemingly won't just be a case of AEW butting heads with New Japan, for a report last month detailed how both CMLL and Stardom are set to be involved with Forbidden Door 2024.
