Big Show Defends WWE Against Premature Deaths Lawsuits

Big Show believes every wrestler accepts a responsibility when they work in the wrestling business and that people suing WWE about a loved one dying prematurely are wrong to do so, according to comments he made to TMZ. Show was asked about the wife of Doink the Clown (real name Matt Osborne) suing WWE and blaming them for the problems that led to his death. Here's how Show explained his opinion on the matter:

€œI think everybody that steps through those ropes knows what could possibly happen. It takes one hit to end a career, one hit to end your life. You gotta accept that responsibility when you step through those ropes whether you're a boxer, ultimate fighter or sports entertainer...football, this is what people are trained to do, and you accept your lot in your life. I have nothing but good things to say about the place I work for because I've see how much they've gone above and beyond to take care of the talent and do everything they can, where no one ever did that before.€

While it's no surprise that show would defend WWE because he's worked there since 1999, he does make a lot of good points. Wrestlers know what they are signing up for when they work for WWE or any wrestling company. That's also why WWE makes them sign contracts saying they are independent contractors, which is WWE's way of protecting themselves as a company.

Also, his point about one hit ending your career and life is also relevant, especially this week when Tyson Kidd revealed on Twitter that people with his neck injury only have a 5% chance to live. There's an enormous risk that wrestlers perform with every match whether they are in front of 100 people or 70,000 people at WrestleMania. Show was very sympathetic to the family and summed it up this way: "I'm sorry for people's loss. It's tough. I go through it too, I got knees, back, but that's the decision I made to do what I do for a living.
