Booking John Cena Over The Next Year
4. The WWE Title Is Closed For Business
As summer rolls around, Cena has promised that the main event of Smackdown's Summerslam card will be an open challenge for the WWE Champioship around his waist. When it comes to the big show, anticipation is rife with who it might be - plenty of the contenders already have matches on the show, and it's not certain who might be making the challenge to the champ.
Out comes The Undertaker! Cena is initially stunned but up for the match, as the Phenom approaches the ring with all his trademark fanfare. It's important that this is out of the blue and without any build - It shows that 'anything can happen' on the WWE Network, while cementing Taker's recent promise that Wrestlemania will no longer define his legacy.
This is partly why the Deadman is the only real choice for a scenario like this - he's the ultimate babyface, unites fans wherever he appears, and it's a fresh matchup for Cena as well. It beats the more obvious picks like Styles and Ambrose, while it's someone that everyone can get behind unlike Orton or Miz.
Even without any build, the match immediately gains the big fight feel of a true main event between two WWE titans that haven't faced off in singles action for over a decade. The two trade signature moves while the crowd goes wild for what are probably the two biggest attractions in the WWE, but no matter what Cena does he can't seem to finish the Phenom.
Amazingly the unthinkable happens, and Undertaker picks up the shock win the in the main event of the show, winning the World Championship and ending John Cena's 16th title reign in the process.
