This has been building for months now. It would be ludicrous for NXT not to pull the trigger on this match.

Pete Dunne and Ricochet are easily two of the most over stars in NXT today. Ricochet is the high-flying North American champion, whilst Dunne is the hard-hitting, longest-reigning champion of the modern era, notching up over 550 days as United Kingdom Champion.

The two have shared an uneasy alliance on NXT for some time now. It's clear that they both want the other's belt, but they have been forced to team up to fend off The Undisputed Era, culminating in a brilliant War Games match where both Dunne and Ricochet pinned Adam Cole to pick up the win.

Pete Dunne needs to lose the United Kingdom Championship soon so he can become a fully fledged member of the NXT roster. Once he does, then a feud with Ricochet over the North American Championship is right there waiting for him.

The two have fought in singles matches before, but never to a definitive winner, so there's plenty of history to build on when New Jersey comes around. You wouldn't need to turn either of them heel; just have both men fuelled by a desire to win and let their in-ring magic tell the story.

No matter the outcome, Dunne vs Ricochet is a match made in heaven - and the fact its been building for the better part of a year will make it even more satisfying when the two finally lock horns.
