You could set up one of those "change my mind" tables from the meme, with a banner reading, "Bret and Owen Hart had the greatest opening match in WWE history." Then just play on your phone for a few hours, because nobody on earth could rationally debate you. What more can you say about the match that solidified Owen as a true main event-level star?

The two faced the challenge of keeping Owen heel, preventing the fans from feeling pity for the lesser-acclaimed little brother. To remedy this, Owen played it snide and spiteful, occasionally getting one-upped by his more-experienced sibling. Meanwhile, Bret kept his own demeanor calm but competitive, wearing stoicism instead of sinking to Owen's level.

As for the work on display, it's a WrestleMania top-tenner, featuring competitive wrestling at the highest level, akin to a foot race with plenty of lead changes. When Owen prevails (to the shock of most), it's not by cheating, but rather a simple countermove executed adeptly. In 20 minutes, Owen was a star on Bret's level, and it didn't feel forced in the slightest.
