2. Vs. Davey Boy Smith (SummerSlam 1992)

Anyone who doubts Bret's abilities or has the audacity to call him "overrated", SummerSlam 1992 is the perfect counter-argument. Hart would be dropping his IC belt to The British Bulldog in front of 80,000 of Smith's countrymen at London's Wembley Stadium. While "The Hitman" was determined to give Smith the match of his life, he was aghast to discover that his brother-in-law was hardly up for the challenge.

Per Hart's recollection, Smith spent much of the summer indulging in nasty vices, and was in a rough place mentally when he got to the venue. Hart had to call every spot of the match, especially when minutes into it, the Bulldog whispered that he'd forgotten the entire pre-ordained plan.

What Hart manages to achieve in carrying Bulldog to a genuine five-star match is astounding. With a little help from trusted official Joey Marella, Hart puts Smith in proper position for every ensuing spot, apparently hand-holding him all the way to the dramatic finish. To watch the match, you'd never know that Smith was compromised. Hart's mastery of the ring should never be questioned.
