Bret Hart's 5 WWE Championship Reigns Ranked From Worst To Best
3. WWE Championship (3rd) 19 November 1995 - 31 March 1996
In 1995, business wasn't good for WWE with Diesel on top, coincidence or not. And with Shawn Michaels' popularity growing every day, he was definitely going to be crowned World Champion at the following 'Showcase Of The Immortals'.
At Survivor Series 1995, Bret Hart was the one chosen to finally end Diesel's 12 month reign as WWE Champion, defeating him with a small package after taking 'Big Daddy Cool' to his first good match in months.
'The Hitman' started his third reign by retaining in a hidden gem against The British Bulldog at December's In Your House. In January and February, Bret retained against The Undertaker and Diesel respectively on PPV, thus helping set up their 'Mania match (they cost each other's title matches against Hart).
When WrestleMania XII finally arrived, 'The Excellence Of Execution' dropped his WWF Championship to Shawn Michaels in an Iron Man Match that was a true wrestling clinic.
At the end of the day, in his third reign Bret Hart was nothing but a transitional champion warming up the belt for 'The Heartbreak Kid'. But when it comes to the art of making others look good, few were better than 'The Hitman' - therefore this reign makes the top three of our list.
