In the initial buildup to Survivor Series 2017, fans were forced to look forward to the prospect of a champion vs. champion match pitting Brock Lesnar against Jinder Mahal. But then, a miracle happened, as WWE went with something not terrible, instead putting the WWE Championship on AJ Styles, thus booking a dream match fans had waited years to see.

While this was all well and good, however, the question was this: how competitive was this match going to be? After all, this was still Vince's land of big, sweaty men. If Finn Bálor can be squashed by Kane on RAW, what chance did AJ have of getting a good match with Brock?

Turns out: it was a very good chance, as they had a great match. Easily the longest match Brock has had since 2015, the Beast put on his working boots that night and sold as much as he could for the Phenomenal One. Despite the size advantage, Brock made AJ look like an equal, and although Styles ultimately took the loss, he had absolutely nothing taken away from him.

It just goes to show that, sometimes, the cynical foreboding of wrestling fans gets shoved straight where the sun doesn't shine.
