Brock Lesnar's 10 Most Vicious Matches
10. Brock Lesnar vs. Hulk Hogan - SmackDown 2002
From a real-life standpoint, this probably is one of the safest matches Brock Lesnar has ever worked. There wasn’t much question that Hulk Hogan wasn’t going to spend much time in Suplex City after all. But what makes the match so vicious was how he crushed the life out of Hulkamania in a way we’d never before seen.
Throughout Hogan’s career, he took on countless monsters, but he always came out on top. Andre, Earthquake, Bundy...they all fell to the mighty Big Boot and the Legdrop. But that wasn’t going to work on Lesnar.
In an incredibly surprising bout, Hogan was booked against Lesnar on the August 8, 2002 episode of SmackDown. They oddly didn’t save it for pay-per-view. The only thing more surprising was the outcome. Hogan lost clean. Sure, he did the favors for The Rock, but this wasn't WrestleMania. And this was against a guy who hadn't even been on TV for a year.
Hogan wasn’t the recipient of a series of German suplexes, as his back could not have handled such punishment, but the fact that the Immortal One’s offense was so futile was shocking. A big boot kept Brock down for mere seconds. The legdrop didn't even register a two count.
Brock did hit Hogan with an F-5, but he wasn’t done. He picked him up, and squeezed the life out of him with a side bearhug. Our hero was left on his back, blood coming out of his mouth, and Heyman and Lesnar celebrating his fall. It's perhaps the most lopsided televised loss in The Hulkster's career.
