Bryan Danielson: "WrestleMania 30 Doesn't Mean That Much To Me" (WWE News)
Bryan Danielson reveals the truth behind his WrestleMania 30 win.
While many would view his big WrestleMania 30 win as not just the biggest moment of his WWE career, but one of the biggest of his pro wrestling career, period, AEW's Bryan Danielson has revealed that 'Mania moment really "doesn't mean that much" to him.
Of course, WrestleMania 30 saw Danielson defeat Triple H in a fantastic PLE opener, before then going on to topple Randy Orton and Batista in the main event to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion amidst fireworks, confetti, and a monstrous reaction from the New Orleans crowd.
However, as the American Dragon has now explained to Sun Sport (via SEScoops), certain circumstances mean that moment was somewhat soured for him.
As Danielson detailed:
"My sister and my niece got to come in the ring, but I was about to marry my wife the following Friday, and they wouldn't let her come to the ring. They didn't want her to be in the thing."
Bryan also talked about the physical pain he was going through during that period:
"It wasn't just that. I was going through a ton of neck pain and all these other things, so these things that seem like cool moments to a viewer, there's still all this other stuff going on in a performer's life that could make that moment not as valuable to them as it is to the people viewing."
As alluded to by Bryan Danielson there, he would be forced to undergo surgery barely a month after his big WrestleMania 30 win due to losing all strength in his right arm because of neck issues. As such, he would be stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after just two title defences - a no contest against Triple H the night after 'Mania, and a win over Kane at Extreme Rules that May.
Danielson would return to the ring just before the 2015 Royal Rumble, win the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 31, but then would be pulled from WWE's annual post-WrestleMania European tour over health concerns. Shortly after that, Bryan would be forced to vacate the Intercontinental Title and spend the rest of the year out of action due to concussion issues, eventually announcing his retirement in February 2016.
Thankfully, Bryan Danielson would be able to lace up his boots against by the time of WrestleMania 34, and he'd remain an active in-ring talent with WWE through until shortly after WrestleMania 37, when his contract came up. By that September, Danielson became #AllElite as he joined AEW.
For those wondering about Bryan's current in-ring status after getting physically involved at All In earlier this month, he's confirmed that he's not yet ready for any sort of return to the ring, adding that the physicality seen at All In was even a little more than he'd agreed with AEW's medical staff.
