Nowadays in her second run with the company, WWE's Cathy Kelley is training for a possible career between the ropes.

Via PWInsider Elite, Kelley has been spending time at the WWE Performance Center, where she's spent what's described as an extended period working on her in-ring work and also attending promo classes.

Of course, Cathy Kelley is a backstage interviewer for WWE, currently carrying out that job on the Raw brand. This report notes how WWE is keen to explore new directions for Cathy, with one idea being for her to potentially take on a managerial role if not an outright in-ring worker - with Kelley herself having previously stated how she'd be open to working as a manager if the chance ever arose.

While so many managers and wrestlers have transitioned to backstage interviewer-type roles over the decades, it's rare that you see someone going the other way and leaving the microphone behind in order to pursue a career in (or around) the squared circle.

Obviously, there are several different ways things could play out here, with it all depending on how Cathy's skills come along, how WWE decides to move forward with her, and whether Kelley herself sees lacing up her boots as the best thing for her future.

Previously, Kelley was with WWE from 2016 through until early 2020, where she was primarily used as an interviewer and host for the NXT brand. Before WWE, the Illinois native cut her teeth with a variety of shows, most notably with AfterBuzz TV and her own Chatting with Cathy podcast.
