Cesaro In WWE: Where Did It All Go Wrong

5. Bashing WWE’s Draft

By 2016's summer months, Cesaro was back to treading water in the "nearly man" spot.

WWE's Draft was another painful moment for the guy too - there, he was drafted to Raw as the 28th overall pick, and that didn't well with him. Cesaro complained during a quick YouTube/WWE.com interview about his positioning, said he should've been top 10 and moaned that he'd rather be on SmackDown anyway.

Wrestling Observer head Dave Meltzer later reported that this promo was a shoot. It hadn't been totally cleared by WWE management, and they didn't know that Cesaro was going to bury the Draft. Bashing the company's decision-making won't have done him any favours.

It was clear that Cesaro was unhappy though. He'd been used to pad out the Draft field, and barely escaped the shame of being part of the 'Supplemental Draft' on WWE's website. From there, creative decided that their 'Swiss Superman' was struggling on his own.
