Cesaro In WWE: Where Did It All Go Wrong
2. Expecting Him To Be A Promo King
It's not harsh to suggest that mic skills have never been Cesaro’s main strength. His promos are basic, and they're often filled with stumbles or botches due to the fact that English isn't his first language. Nobody's piling on for that, but WWE’s style is heavy on the vocals and he just never cut it.
Back in late-2014, a "pipebomb" style promo was all-but-wrecked when Cesaro said that he only cared about what happens "between these four ropes". That error was just one example; there were many moments that must've had Vinnie Mac rolling his eyes over the years. He wanted The Rock, not...this.
That was unrealistic and never going to happen.
Man, WWE flubbed Paul Heyman cutting promos for Cesaro. Think about that! Afterwards, they tried to shove ye olde proverbial square peg into a round hole by having this in-ring wizard become 'Captain Charisma' overnight. This was something that plagued Cesaro for the rest of his WWE career.
