CM Punk: 10 Reasons WWE Fans Have Turned On Him

2. His Personality Is Genuinely Unlikeable

CM Punk is the first person to admit he isn't a nice guy. He has commented on more than one occasion he genuinely believes he is some sort of sociopath. As for his colleagues, they've all admitted he can be a nightmare to work with, demanding and very grumpy. Fans love the guy, but he doesn't love them back, he far preferred to be inciting people than satisfying them in his WWE career. The last few months was the time when fans in general realised Punk wasn't the hero they wanted him to be. Seeing through the CM Punk character they witnessed Phil Brooks, a guy who wanted nothing to do with WWE fans, a guy who didn't care about bridges he burned in the industry. The word 'selfish' has been used to describe him. Even his own friends haven't heard from him, with the Wrestling Observer reporting he has pretty much cut himself from the world. Repeated mentions of words like 'selfish', 'grumpy and 'loner' have combined to paint an image of a man who sounds to the fans like an unlikeable guy. The connotations have started to stick. At the end of the day, Brooks made a great job of the CM Punk character, but that's all it was, fans never really knew the person playing the role.
