CM Punk: 5 Reasons He Will Return At WWE Payback

5. Payback Is In His Hometown Of Chicago

While the chants for CM Punk have stopped, they will be heard again come June 1st, at the Allstate Arena in Chicago. That crowd planned on "hijacking" the March 3rd edition of RAW, and the WWE were very careful on the way the show was booked that night. The Divas Champion at the time, AJ Lee, did not appear on that show for fear of the crowd taking over the segment. Paul Heyman also opened that RAW and got great heat when he sat in the middle of the ring and blamed the fans for CM Punk's departure. Let's not forget back in 2011 at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view in Chicago, it was all but a done deal that CM Punk would wrestle his last match in the WWE that night. His contract was expiring at the time and the week prior he had dropped his pipe bomb shoot promo on RAW. The WWE and CM Punk shocked the world that night, as Punk would defeat John Cena and exit through the crowd with the WWE Championship. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OfSR68tEzs Around this time a year ago, CM Punk made his return back to the company at the same Payback pay-per-view, in Chicago, to face Chris Jericho. Punk had taken a planned hiatus after his WrestleMania 29 match with The Undertaker to heal up from some nagging injuries, and this was the first time we saw him in three months. Even if Punk decides not to get back in the ring, he may work out a deal with the WWE and give a farewell speech to his hometown crowd. The WWE could capitalize by having this on the WWE Network as soon as the pay-per-view ends, as part of the post show. By doing so, all parties could finally put this to rest and move on.
