CM Punk: 7 Reasons He Could Have Been The Biggest WWE Star Of 2014
5. Nobody Can Match Punk For Promos And Matches
Now that he has had a month off to recharge his batteries, with a worked shoot angle to motivate his enthusiasm, CM Punk should have been more than ready to re-emerge on to the WWE scene with the energy needed to dominate. When he is at his best he is untouchable, no one will outperform him. We fully expected Punk to return firing on all cylinders with a major Mania program and new contract to fuel him. WWE obviously thought otherwise, choosing to stay firm with their Batista vs Orton direction and Bryan / Authority clash. The re-emergence of Punk at his peak would have allowed him to demand top billing in 2014. His promos and in-ring work won't be topped, which would have left WWE little choice but to book him at the top of the cards. Punk has demonstrated that he can last in a major role for a sustained period of time when he dominated the WWE title for 434 days starting in 2011 and lasting until 2013. His return would have created a level of momentum which he has the experience to sustain, he has the acumen to hold onto that kind of buzz. Instead he hasn't been given the chance. One of the hottest potential angles ever that could have fuelled an epic main event run through 2014 has been wasted.
