CM Punk: Every WrestleMania Match Ranked Worst To Best
5. CM Punk Vs Randy Orton - WrestleMania 27 (2011)
It's forgivable to forget that CM Punk was once the leader of Nexus. This event took place only three months before he dropped the pipebomb to end all pipebombs, and reinvented his character from head to toe. After that, came the Summer of Punk... and you know the rest.
Still, this was fun looking back. In his grudge match against Randy Orton, Punk showed off all of his crafty skills, and proved to have some solid chemistry with the Viper. As a technical exhibition, this was all top dollar, with Orton and Punk putting in some great effort to make it work. However, there was little real significance to the storyline, and that made the whole thing hard to invest in.
CM Punk's closing turnbuckle dive, hijacked by an RKO, was at least an excellent finish. Perhaps in a parallel universe, this was a WrestleMania main event, and therefore could have gone the extra mile. It certainly had that level of potential. The match delivered on its every promise, but was ultimately a stopping point for better things in the future.
