When hitting the grandest stage of them all in 2012, CM Punk was at the apex of his popularity. This was also his one and only WWE title match at WrestleMania.

In full babyface mode, he made a sterling title defence against a contrastingly villainous Chris Jericho, who made things personal by insulting Punk's entire family. What's more, Punk's acting corporate nemesis at the time, John Laurinaitis, promised an instant disqualification and title forfeit, should Punk break any rules during the match.

This resulted in an excellent clean wrestling bout which also contained some great storytelling. Jericho and CM Punk were a perfect fit for each other, not just in terms of wrestling, but chemistry too. Their technical showmanship and charismatic approach to staying in character made this an extremely rewarding treat for the fans. They bounced off of each other with enough skill to provide a goodly amount of wrestling surprises. It was everything it should have been, and more.

The final shot saw Punk victoriously holding his belt. The crowd went wild. It was WrestleMania-worthy on all fronts.
