CM Punk’s WWE Return: 10 Nightmares That Could Come True

9. WWE Misses The Obvious ‘Mania Play

CM Punk Triple H WWE

The WrestleMania rules have changed since the last time CM Punk worked the biggest show of WWE's calendar year. Now, 'Mania has been super-sized to two nights, and that means his chances of headlining the thing have vastly increased. Surely, surely Punk will get a headline berth come April 2024.

What if he doesn't?!

That'd be a clanger from WWE. It's possible that Hunter gave his new hire assurances before Punk put his name on the dotted line again in the first place. Also, CM vs. Seth Rollins (middle finger thrown up by the latter at the tail end of Survivor Series and all) is the kind of story that writes itself and would be perfect for the top spot on either night in Philadelphia.

Punk fans the world over won't be thrilled with WWE if they stick him in the mid-to-upper card at 'Mania and he doesn't get to finally close one of those elusive supershows. No, no that headline slot has to happen. The guy's sanity might depend on it!
