414 days into CM Punks historic WWE title reign and it was now time for his biggest challenge; The Rock. It was no secret that CM Punk and Rock had some real life issue between the two, Punk was more than outspoken in his disapproval of Rock and Cena main eventing WrestleMania 28. Months before this encounter, CM Punk turned heel on The Rock and left him laid out in the ring after a GTS (more on that later), and now the two were set to compete at Royal Rumble. Moments after defeating Ryback in a TLC match, Punk went to the ring and unleashed Pipebomb 2.0. He attacked WWE management for continuing to get in his way, called Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler clowns and mocked the fans for being nothing more than puppets whose strings were his to pull and continued to remind everyone that he is the Best in the World. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mr8mfBRsD2s This already excellent promo stepped up another gear when The Rock entered the ring, he brought his usual charm and humour, but also addressed Punk with a determined intensity when it was needed he certainly treated Punk with respect. Unlike with John Cena, you truly felt that The Rock had met an equal and the two challenged each other in this excellent exchange. In one promo, The Rock and CM Punk accomplished more than the entirety of the year long story of the famous John Cena and Rock rivalry. It was one of the finest promos between two of the best talkers in WWE history CM Punk versus The Rock should have headlined WrestleMania 29.
