4. A Rhodes Scholar
The Rhodes Scholar team consisting of Cody Rhodes and Damien Sandow never should have worked. It was, at its core, a duo thrown together to give them something to do. There was no real rhyme or reason, nor were there any long-term plans for them to capture tag team gold; it was convenient for WWE Creative. As they had spent their careers doing, though, the tandem made the absolute most out of their situation and developed into a fairly entertaining team.
A quality heel tag team, they feuded with Rey Mysterio and Sin Cara in a program that allowed them to demonstrate how strong their chemistry had become. Their Tables match victory over the babyface tandem at TLC 2012 hammered that point home. While a followup program against Brodus Clay and Tensai may not have been ideal for the team, it kept them in the spotlight.
It was during his stint in the team that Rhodes sported a mustache. While it looked ridiculous in 2013 WWE, it also helped him stand out from the rest of the roster. Soon, chants of "Cody's mustache" poured out of the stands. Eventually, the Superstars went their own ways after a split that saw Sandow win Money in the Bank at Rhodes' expense.
They would feud for a few weeks afterward before the Rhodes Scholars were consigned to history.
