Controversial UFC fighter Colby Covington has expressed a desire to work for WWE someday.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated's Justin Barrasso, the welterweight said that for now, fighting is his passion, but he can see himself swapping combat sports for sports entertainment once his time in the Octagon is over:-

“I’d love to cross over and come into the WWE,” says Covington, 34. “But I love being a UFC fighter. I love fighting; it’s my passion and what I was born and put on this earth to do. After my career with the UFC is done, WWE is something I’d love to dabble in.”

Covington, 34, possesses a 17-3 MMA record and is coming off a unanimous decision victory over Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272 this past Saturday.

Crossing over into WWE would mean following in the footsteps of the likes of Ronda Rousey, whom Colby is a fan of:-

“Ronda Rousey has really impressed me [in WWE], Her promo game has come on strong. She’s just a true entertainer. She knows how to put on a show for a crowd. She is the baddest woman in combat sports. Look at her track record—she’s a trendsetter. The things she did in the UFC are unheard of. I’m a big fan of Ronda Rousey and I love the way she competes. I think she’s going to be the best WWE wrestler for a long time to come.”

As well known for firing off verbally than any fight on his record, Covington launched into a typically demented rant following his win over Masvidal in which he called prospective opponent Dustin Poirier a "c*nt" and his wife a "jezebel."

WWE's writing team scripting him should be a hoot.
