Crossface: 13 Actors Who Must Be Cast In Chris Benoit's Biopic
3. Mark Ruffalo As Bret Hart
As much as Stu Hart should be introduced as the big early influence on Schreiber's Benoit in his training days (even if it's no more than a short prologue), Bret Hart has to be the role model figure he was to Benoit in real life.
Again, because of the need to stream-line - something the writer has already referenced in interviews as a challenge - it would make sense to combine both Hart and Tom Billington into one figure, rather than sharing screen time. And as much as a performance of the Dynamite Kid would pop with knowledgable WWE fans, there might be less intrigue from more casual audiences (who will be necessary to bank well at the box office).
Casting big is the right answer once again, and having Mark Ruffalo's screen wrestling experience from Foxcatcher is a nice bonus to his acting skill. Looking the part isn't all that important, even, as Ruffalo has proved himself capable of inhabiting real-life figures and showing the kind of broad range that would make him an intriguing choice.
