In kayfabe terms, this was the story of a self-absorbed hypocrite who used the same rhetoric to suppress a deserving star that was once used on him. In real-life terms, this was an extremely honourable put-over for a man whose dreams had been neutered in WWE for far too long. Kofi Kingston was owed a ginormous moment of triumph, and this was the night for it.

Daniel Bryan assuming the role of Triple H 2.0 ('B-plus-player' schtick included), to make Kofi the babyface centre of attention was excellent work, and who expected any less than a match of the same quality? In creating a technical exhibition worthy of WrestleMania, Kingston and Bryan appeared made for each other. They were both veterans of the game, and here was the portfolio.

They also kept in mind the importance of the occasion and therefore made sure to go the extra mile. Cue the nail-biting collection of two-counts and submission holds, ending in a sublimely clean and just victory for Kofi Kingston.

Kingston's title reign may have not been built to last, but on this night, it was blatantly well-deserved. Daniel Bryan loyally played his part in making that happen.
