"Wrestling is my side job, daddy-ing is my most important job.”

We’ve previously heard how Daniel Bryan envisions his in-ring career only lasting a few more years, and now the American Dragon has indicated his plans to soon move to a part-time WWE schedule.

In an interview with BT Sport, Bryan confirmed that his full-time wrestling days will be over sooner rather than later.

Having discussed how still simply talking about wrestling fills him with joy, and that he’ll continue to wrestle in some form or fashion for as long as he physically can, D-Bry reiterated that having two children at home means he has another priority in his life.

As Bryan put it:

“Now, I’m just kind of switching priorities in my life, where for years wrestling has been kind of the key focus and all that kind of stuff. My contract is coming up soon… but we’re looking [at] transitioning me to maybe less than a full-time wrestler. My time of being a full-time wrestler are numbered, and I’m more going to be a full-time dad, part-time wrestler. Wrestling is my side job, daddy-ing is my most important job.”

We’ve already heard how Bryan has become a loose part of the SmackDown creative team in recent months, and maybe that’s something that the multiple-time World Champion will get more involved in going forward. Either way, it appears that the days of seeing Daniel Bryan wrestle on a weekly basis will be getting less and less in the not-too-distant future.

Having wrestled in a six-man pre-show match before last Sunday’s TLC PPV, next up for WWE’s resident Yes! Man is a match with Jey Uso on Friday’s festive edition of SmackDown.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
