Daniel Bryan Retains WWE Championship At Elimination Chamber 2019
The best chamber match EVER?
Daniel Bryan retained his WWE Championship at Elimination Chamber in arguably the best chamber match ever.
Despite starting the match as the #1 entrant and having Erick Rowan removed from ringside prior to the bell ringing, Bryan managed to outlast five other competitors to successfully defend his WWE Championship.
After starting the match against Samoa Joe and being brutalised by chops, Bryan was then joined by Kofi Kingston, who stole the show for the second time in a week. AJ Styles was soon added to the mix, hitting a Phenomenal Forearm on 'The Destroyer' to eliminate him from proceedings.
Jeff Hardy then entered the fray, landing a jaw-dropping Swanton Bomb across Styles' back (who had been draped over the top turnbuckle) from a atop a chamber pod. However, no sooner had Hardy risen from the manoeuvre, he was dropped by Bryan's Running Knee and pinned.
Randy Orton was the #6 entrant and soon made his presence felt, attacking the remaining three competitors and removing Styles from proceedings, connecting with an RKO as the 'Phenomenal One' looked to put down Kingston.
Orton appeared to be well on the way to eliminating Kofi before a Trouble in Paradise from out of nowhere meant that Randy was shown the chamber door instead. That left us with the current champ and the crowd favourite, to close out a thrilling final third of a quality chamber match.
Bryan was left astonished when Kingston kicked out of a Running Knee, and frustrated when he made it to the ropes to break what seemed to be a match-winning LeBell Lock.
The Dreadlocked Dynamo even had some believing his was about to leave as champion when Bryan ate a Trouble in Paradise kick, but after 'The New' Daniel Bryan managed to get a shoulder up and Kingston subsequently crashed & burned with an attempted splash from one of the chamber pods, the writing was on the wall.
A second Running Knee was too much for Kofi; Daniel Bryan claimed victory, retained his WWE Championship, and was helped to the back by Erick Rowan. Kingston was left to rue a missed opportunity, soak in the incredible crowd support who clearly want to see these two run it back, and be commiserated by his New Day companions.
