Daniel Bryan's 10 Best Matches

2. Bryan Danielson vs. Nigel McGuinness (August 12, 2006)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=59sRFA6KqC4 Ring Of Honor traveled to England for the very first time for their Unified event in Liverpool. The main event would be a unification match up between ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson and ROH Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness. The contest would be fought under Pure rules (only 3 rope breaks allowed for each combatant, DQs and Count Outs would lead to a title change). As most of McGuinness' matches tended to be, this was definitely strong, stiff style with hard European uppercuts and stiff forearm shots throughout the bout. At one point, the two wrestlers slap each other back and forth at least twenty times. The very real punishment these two wrestlers took in order to put on such a memorable match for the crowd leaves the viewer in awe. Probably the most memorable, brutal spot occurred when McGuiness' head was busted open hard way by Bryan bashing his head into the steel ring post several times in succession. Much to the home country crowds' dismay, the contest ended when Bryan repeatedly hit McGuinness with elbows to the side of the head until Nigel was ruled unconscious, leaving Bryan as ROH's unified champion.
