Dean Ambrose's Top 10 WWE Moments
5. Winning The Intercontinental Championship
Dean Ambrose’s quest for the Intercontinental Championship started in January 2015. After defeating incumbent Bad News Barrett and coercing him into a title match, Ambrose fought for the belt at various points throughout 2015’s early months, and finally captured it with a victory over Kevin Owens that December.
His two-month reign won’t live long in the memory, but it delivered a couple of excellent matches with Owens, and was hugely important in his revitalisation after losing cleanly to Roman Reigns at Survivor Series.
The IC strap has often been used to keep main event-level wrestlers “warm” without thrusting them into the World Title scene, and that’s exactly what this reign did for Ambrose. Dean was never pinned to lose his belt (Owens pinned Tyler Breeze in a five-way match), and while the ensuing Brock Lesnar and Chris Jericho feuds were not without their faults, they helped Dean get to where he is today.
