With many wrestling fans wondering whether Dominik Mysterio will at some point don a mask similar to that of his legendary father, Dominik himself has now talked about how he wants to eventually take over both the mask and the Rey Mysterio name.

Speaking during an appearance on Ryan Satin's Out of Character show, the 24-year-old explained how he wants to take over from Rey when the Master of the 619 decides to hang up his boots.

As picked up by WrestlingNews.co, Dominik said:

"I think the long goal here, the endgame, is to eventually take over the Rey Mysterio name. That's the legacy within it. He's Rey Mysterio. It's only right to make a Jr. Traditionally in Lucha culture, and in Hispanic culture, that's tradition. That's what you do. I kind of just showed up and Dom Mysterio organically happened. Everything happened so far, we didn't really get chance to put these things together, but we definitely have talked about it. He's mentioned before that the mask is something I have to earn along with the name. If one day he wants to pass it on to me after he retires, or he wants to make me earn it after he retires or something, whatever it is, I'm up for it."

On Dominik's mention of the Jr. tradition, Rey Mysterio himself was originally known as Rey Mysterio Jr. (or Rey Misterio Jr.) during his time in AAA, ECW and throughout his stint in WCW.

Having been trained by his uncle Rey Misterio, the Rey who WWE audiences know was christened Rey Misterio Jr. by the uncle who would then become Rey Misterio Sr. Still with us? Good.

Of course, when Rey-Rey signed with WWE in 2002, Vince McMahon's promotion opted to drop the Jr. part of his ring name, with him having simply been referred to as Rey Mysterio during his WWE tenure.

Now, if Dominik gets his way, the wrestling world could get a new Rey Mysterio Jr. at some point down the line if and when Dom takes over the mask from his old man.
