Drew McIntyre has suffered a "hairline jaw fracture" in kayfabe following the multiple punts he received from Randy Orton on the Post-SummerSlam/Payback go-home edition of Monday Night Raw.

The news came during a Payback Kickoff panel conversation about the 'Scottish Psychopath', though was reiterated on the show itself after host Charly Caruso and panellist Jerry Lawler offered differing updates on his health. Footage was played pf 'The Apex Predator's brutal attacks, with a rematch expected at Clash Of Champions in September or Hell In A Cell the following month. No timeline for his recovery was confirmed, however.

By not defending his title at Payback, the WWE Champion missed his first main roster pay-per-view since WrestleMania 36 due to the injuries, which had originally been reported as possible "skull fracture and brain bleeding".

After defeating Brock Lesnar (and defending against The Big Show) on the 'Grandest Stage', McIntyre defended against Seth Rollins at Money In The Bank, Bobby Lashley at Backlash, Dolph Ziggler at The Horror Show At Extreme Rules and Orton himself at SummerSlam.

We'll likely hear more from the pair on tonight's Raw, regardless of when McIntyre makes his formal return.
