Dusty Rhodes Tribute: 10 Awesome Moments To Remember

8. The Dream vs. The Superstar

While he carved out the majority of his success in the NWA and its southern territories, Dusty Rhodes had a brief run up north for Vince McMahon, Sr.'s WWWF. At the time the champion was another man who was simply ahead of his time - "Superstar" Billy Graham, who can be credited as a heavy influence on such top stars as Hulk Hogan, Jesse Ventura and Scott Steiner. Rhodes and Graham would square off in what was considered a dream feud, with two of the sport's best talkers trying to one up each other on the mic and between the ropes. The Dream main evented against Graham in Madison Square Garden twice, losing by countout in the first and then dropping a Texas Death Match in the second. The bouts were classics and were performed in front of the typical-for-the-time rabid NYC crowd, excited for the chance to witness the man they'd only read about in the wrestling magazines. The two had such amazing chemistry together that it's a shame the run didn't last longer, and by the time they crossed paths in the same company again Graham was already long past his prime. But for its time, it was a hell of a program. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UwV1ozBu7DE
