Chris Jericho has recently had Sheamus, Finn Balor and a number of other talents who have come through Florida Championship Wrestling or NXT on his ‘Talk is Jericho’ podcasts, and one thing that stands out is that they have all universally praised Dusty Rhodes’s input into their work in Florida. NXT graduates who I know have spoken about promo classes run by Dusty and how much they learned from the master about their delivery, their choice of words and the impact that their promos would have. On one occasion where a film crew was allowed inside the WWE Performance Centre, they recorded Dusty sitting in on a promo class, sighing at some of the generic offerings. “Another pro wrestler promo” he says. One thing that Dusty wasn’t was generic and he urged those around him to stand out from the crowd. From his interviews and tweets, he was clearly very proud of the young men and women that he guided and advised in NXT.

I have seen British wrestlers return from NXT to the UK, and their promo work and overall characters have been much more polished and professional than when they left. That sheen to their characters was added by one man: Dusty Rhodes.
