Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson: 5 Awesome Performances And 5 That Sucked

3. Sean Porter - Gridiron Gang

gridon gang Exploiting The Rock's star power and forging an action vehicle behind him is relatively simple work in comparison to having him lead a sincere, character driven drama based around youth offenders. But in a shock to almost everybody, The Rock was perfect for the role of the probation officer who is trying to steer the young boys on the right path. In the role, he is earnest, strong and magnetic as his powerful performance holds your attention until the end. His performance in the movie is not too dissimilar to Samuel L Jackson's turn in Coach Carter, as both are utterly compelling and are on screen for almost every minute of the movie. The drama and story is earnest and well intentioned, and though it is nothing knew, it's a compelling film with a genuinely great central performance at the heart of it. Gridiron Gang proved The Rock could do more than just fight and act cool.
