EC3 Interview: Signing With ROH, Jay Briscoe, Controlling His Narrative, Leaving WWE, More

Was ROH always the endgame for you when you left WWE or was it all a matter of circumstance?

EC3: The endgame was always to be different and break conformity. Ring of Honor has provided that as the best option. To be honest, I don't know my endgame yet, which could be a good thing and also kind of a bad thing because you do need a vision and end result in mind. At the same time, I'm liking how everything is falling into place. I wouldn't say it was necessarily the endgame because I don't know the endgame, but now that I'm here in this game, I will be Ring of Honor champion, I know that. I won't leave here until I accomplish that.

What I see as the endgame here now is bringing this company to the relevance it deserves. They have the tools and top talent like The Briscoes and Jay Lethal and these foundations they've built upon. They have up-and-coming talent. Since the relaunch, they've created the product, which is excellent. Now it's just making sure the audience realizes that.

We saw you recently compete in a four-way on ROH TV against Briscoe, Jay Lethal and Matt Taven. Aside from those guys, is there anyone you're specifically looking forward to facing in ROH?

EC3: I would say beyond the names aforementioned, the thing is, I'm not in this company with those men. These men are in this company with me. Whomever it is, they can step up to me. I have no goals as far as, “Oh, I really want to fight...” No. They need to step up to me.
