A couple of nostalgic ECW and WCW appearances went down before this week's AEW Dynamite.

When in Philadelphia, bring out an ECW original.

This has been a go-to move for wrestling promotion's since Paul Heyman's cult company went out of business in April 2001. It's an easy pop in ECW's home city every single time, and one AEW took advantage of by bringing out The Blue Meanie during last night's Dark: Elevation tapings.

Meanie's appearance, along with the rest of Elevation, was captured before last night's episode of Dynamite. Per Wrestling Inc., Meanie showed up after Joey Janela had cut a promo on Philadelphia, forcing him back into the ring for The Bad Boy's match and accompanying his opponent, former WCW wrestler Crowbar.

Janela defeated Crowbar, who wrestled for WCW between 1999 and 2001 and held the company's Hardcore, Cruiserweight, and Tag Team Championships. Sonny Kiss brawled with Joey afterwards but was ran off when Janela's valet, Kayla Rossi, intervened.

Former ECW wrestlers Taz, Chris Jericho, Dean Malenko, and Jerry Lynn (all of whom now work for AEW) compounded the nostalgia after the tapings, addressing the live crowd alongside AEW owner Tony Khan:-
