Eddie Edwards Interview: Slammiversary, Davey Richards, Satoshi Kojima, And More

I just wanted to ask about a comment you made recently, I think it was to Lucha Libre Online. You want to stay in IMPACT for the rest of your career. We've seen guys like Sami Callihan and Moose re-sign this year, so what made you want to stay?

Eddie: You know, it's a bunch of different things, but you know, the way that IMPACT has treated me in general, from day one to where I am now. Obviously there have been changes through the front office. and wrestlers have come and gone, and a lot of things have changed, but I've always been treated with the utmost respect. They've taken care of me.

I'm able to do what I want to do. This is my dream job and I'm able to do it. I enjoy what I do and I fully believe in what we're doing as a company, especially now. We're all moving in the right direction, so I want to be a part of it. I want to be at the forefront of it. I want to be the guy that is IMPACT Wrestling, that is synonymous with IMPACT Wrestling, as we go forward and as we reach new fans, as we reach new heights, I want to be one of the guys waving that IMPACT flag.

Well that's what's good about IMPACT now because they've changed so much since Scott D'Amore and Don Callis came onboard. You've been there since 2014, so in your eyes, how has the company changed?

Eddie: Through the times, people have different visions. Obviously, there's ups and downs in every company, in any genre, it doesn't matter what you do, there's ups and downs. But right now, since day one when they came onboard it felt like, "Okay, we're all on the same page". From the girls and boys in the back, from production, everything to the front office, everyone wanted to change the perception of IMPACT Wrestling.

For a while, IMPACT was thought about negatively, whether it was warranted or unwarranted, but our job was to put IMPACT Wrestling back on track, and that's what's happened. You look at how far this company has grown, how far we've come in the last few years. It's amazing. IMPACT Wrestling, I'd say we're now a destination for wrestlers. We had times where that might not have been the case, but IMPACT Wrestling's doing something right. I feel that connection is from the roster to the front office, there's open communication, everybody knows what's going on, everyone is on the same page.

We also all knew that it wasn't going to change overnight. It was going to be a process. We all had to be onboard, we all had to believe in the process that we're doing, and that's what we had. We've been rewarded for fighting and charging forward the way that we have. Here we are coming up to Slammiversary where you look back at last year's Slammiversary, the hype around that, man. It's continued to roll forward and I'm proud to be a part of it.
